Imdad al-Bukhari fi Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari is the monumental Urdu translation and modern commentary of Sahih al-Bukhari authored by Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, Founder and Principal of Jamia Al-Karam. Written in an accessible and straightforward manner for a twenty-first-century audience, it is the first work of its kind to have been written in the United Kingdom.

Sahih al-Bukhari is the celebrated compilation of more than seven thousand prophetic traditions recorded by the distinguished Imam Muhammad ibn Isma‘il al-Bukhari (194–256 AH). Revered as the most authentic book after the Qur’an, it remains a foundational pillar of the Hadith tradition and the wider scholarship of Islam.

The original Urdu edition of Imdad al-Bukhari comprises eleven volumes and more than six thousand pages. Shaykh Pirzada began writing the commentary in Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah on 10 March 2011, beside the blessed resting place of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace). After more than eight years of sustained scholarly effort, he completed the work on 1 October 2019 in Samarqand, Uzbekistan, seated beside the resting place of Imam Muhammad ibn Isma‘il al-Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him).

Following the overwhelming response to the Arabic edition of Shaykh Pirzada’s Qur’anic commentary, Imdad al-Karam fi Tafsir Khayr al-Kalim, and his subsequent Arabic works on the Prophetic biography, Arab scholars requested that his commentary of Sahih al-Bukhari also be rendered into Arabic for the benefit of Arabic-speaking scholars, students and readers throughout the world.

The Arabic translation began in October 2024 under the care of Dr Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Sayed of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. Work is now underway on the tenth and final volume of the commentary, with the translation, proofreading and correction by Shaykh Pirzada approaching completion.

Dar al-Fath in Jordan has commenced the specialist Arabic editing, typesetting and design of the work and is proceeding towards its publication and printing. The complete Arabic edition is anticipated to comprise thirteen or fourteen substantial volumes and is intended to be launched in early 2027.
