For centuries Muslims have been discussing the issue of the noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) not reciting at the instance of the first Qur’anic revelation and his ability to read. The first five verses of Chapter 96 (Surat al-‘Alaq, The Clot) hold within them much wisdom, knowledge and light. Shaykh MI H Pirzada, the founder and principal of Jamia Al-Karam and who is currently writing the first Tafsir of the holy Qur’an to be written in the United Kingdom, has spent much time researching this subject. This lecture is a result of his scholarly study in which the entire issue is examined and lessons for this modern age derived.
Shaykh M I H Pirzada elaborates on the issue of the noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) not reciting at that auspicious moment of the advent of the first revelation and analyses extensively the phrase ma ana bi qari’in uttered by the noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
In the second part, he delves deep into the first five verses of the holy Qur’an to be revealed and highlights some of the wisdoms hidden within them, in particular the pursuit of scientific knowledge and the advancement in technology. Passionately he urges and advises the Muslim youth of today, both male and female, of how they can better themselves and the state of the Community in this modern world.
The lecture was delivered at an event jointly organised by Jamia Al-Karam, AKSA and the Leeds Makkah Masjid on Sunday 17th December 2006. It is a must for all those seeking knowledge, understanding, and the Truth. The lecture is translated into English point by point by Bakhtyar H Pirzada al-Azhari so that both the Urdu and English speaking audiences can benefit.
